Whickham Fellside Youth Football Club offer the young people of our area of Gateshead, in the North-East of England, the opportunity to be a member of our Club, to play football in a team environment and to become part of a well-run, organised and disciplined group working with and for their fellow team mates.

We make football fun and our Managers and Assistants are qualified to offer first-class coaching under F.A. guidelines. All our volunteers are registered under Child Protection Legislation.

Since our formation in 1980 by Jim Potts, we have grown very steadily indeed and in the season 2010-2011 we have some 25 teams representing Whickham Fellside Y.F.C. from ages of Under-7 to Under-21, including Girls, Girls Development and Women's Senior teams. Our teams play in local Youth Leagues (links through our website).

A completely voluntary organisation, W.F.Y.F.C. Officials give up their time to work within our group and with their teams for the benefit of players and the Club.  As a community group we have been fortunate to receive support from many businesses and individuals over the years and we are continually grateful to all these individuals and companies who assist us. The work we carry out is ongoing and our finances continue to be raised purely through donations; subscriptions; grants and sponsorships - to all these groups and individuals we are forever grateful.

We aim to continue our development of our Club, playing our football at Watergate in the Lobley Hill area of Gateshead and at Smith Terrace in the Teams. We have a first class changing facility at Watergate and with the enthusiasm of our volunteers, members, parents and supporters we are hopeful to develop the Club further. We work closely with Gateshead Council who have a very pro-active and enthusiastic approach to Youth Football in our Borough of Gateshead.

The Club celebrated its 30th ANNIVERSARY with a Dinner in May 2010. Individuals who had assisted the Club in the past, as well as a good representation of those still involved at present, attended. The Guest Speaker was CHRIS KAMARA and the entertainment was by JOSH DANIELS. At this Dinner the Mayor of Gateshead presented the Club with a new trophy, the DAVID WATSON MEMORIAL CUP, which will be in memory of Sapper David Watson, a former player, who died aged 23 years on New Years Eve 2010, while in service in Afghanistan; this presentation was made to David's parents, MAL and ANN WATSON who in turn re-presented it to BILL BATY, our Club Chairman, for use within the Club. The Cup will be presented annually to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to our Club - a very fitting memorial to David.
